Once again it depends on the type of RP and possibly other conditions such as general health. An eye specialist will give some advice on this point but he may be cautious in his answer due to the many variants. If your condition is common in your family (Autosomal dominant), then the rate of deterioration of the sight of relatives will be a good guide. In most cases the loss of sight is gradual, allowing time for adjustment to the reducing level of sight.
